UPTON PARK 2005

Tournament organiser - Jeff Garner (Suez F.C.) was presented with the Secretary of the Year Award (The Geoff Benson Shield) for his contribution to the league and as club secretary of Suez F.C. The award was presented to Jeff by League Secretary - Tony Hoskins on the Upton Park pitch, where both he and Jeff are avid Hammers fans.

"I'm thrilled to have won this award, looking at some of the names of the previous winners - it's indeed an honour" said a delighted Jeff.

"There could only be one winner" said Les Fordham.

The Winners

The newly elected SBCVL League President - Sir Teddy Taylor stand with the winning team which included Sinclair & Milton Walton, Paul Blows, Mark Withers and Dean Zimmer.

They each received a winners medal.

"I must say that this day has been a tremendous success for our league and a very well organised one, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. My compliments to the referees - especially to Ken Clementson - who is nearly as old as me was fantastic out there today as to were Peter, Kevin and Simon. Simon Meddle scored one of the best goals I've seen in years. Tony Hoskins is a first class secretary for you all and I know he works tremendously hard. Jeff Garner has worked extremely hard for you all and I must congratulate him for making this all work so well." said Sir Teddy after the post match buffet held in the Castle Lounge.

Ken Clementson made a presentation to Tony H and Jeff for their contribution and organisation of the day.

Our League Treasurer and match referee Ken Clementson will be shown the 'red card' by his wife Ada when she sees this!! Ken was busy taking the names of The Hammerettes - who danced at the tournament accompanying top ten chartbuster - Steve Perry when he sang his smash hit - Out of Touch during the interval.

The Essex Elite Cheerleaders also gave up their time to join us at the event. Despite the weather being less than kind the girls were outstanding!

League Auditors Rickard Keen supported the event - their advert was up on the giant screens for all to see!

The penalty shoot - out was a very popular part of the day!

All in all the day was an overwhelming success - a full report will appear in the first edition of the new style Vets News in September.
