ROVER AND OUT FOR THE SEASON!

Wilkinson 'Wonder' goal secures the Charity Cup for Gt Wakering

Gt WAKERING ROVERS CASTLE RANGERSCa

Well it certainly wasn't a classic that's for sure but that doesn't tell the whole story. Considering all the recent rain one would have thought the pitch would have a bit of give in it. Well it was the total reverse, in fact it dried out so much it was more like the hard pitches associated to the start of a season. I know the players won't want this to sound like an excuse but it really didn't make it easy for them. That being said it was obvious after 20 minutes it was going to be 'one of those games', it happens - that's football.

The main thing was that it was played in the right way - competitive, hard but fair.

Perhaps the brightest thing of the evening was Danny O'Shea's smile when he was made Man-of-the-Match!

As for Ryan Wilkinson's goal, well... its was a free kick from around 25 yards out that somehow eluded the Castle Rangers defenders and went straight in.

It was the perfect sign-off for Rovers as they added the Charity Cup to their Premier Champions Trophy and the Senior Executive Cup.
