A minute’s silence filled the air across the parks of South
East Essex as players of all ages remembered those who gave their lives for
their country.
Once the action started, it produced goals, goals and
more goals. Gt Wakering cemented their place at the top of the league belting
Tag United 7-1. Deakins got 4. It is not known whether the extra hot chilli and
fireworks the night before had any effect on Tag’s keeper. Chapel United
stepped into second place, still unbeaten, after beating Chalkwell 5-1 with all
the goals coming in the second period. Also unbeaten are Old Southendian, they
beat Styles 5-0. Styles remain rooted to the bottom of the table. Concord
Rangers won 3-0 at Pegasus. The Brit v Castle game was rained off.
Brit II lost their 100% record going down 1-0 to second
placed Gt Wakering II. Lloyd scored the only goal but Brit did miss a last
minute penalty. Hockley British
Legion move into third spot after winning their derby game with Hullbridge 3-1.
Ford Basildon scored 8 for the second week running, this time winning 8-0 at
Catholic, Spencer getting three. Southend Collegians and Southend Supporters
shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
Eversley Park moved into the next round of the Charity
Cup, winning 4-1 at Old Southendian II. Sutton United suffered their first
defeat of the season, going down 3-2 to Simco.
Earls Hall lost their unbeaten start, going down at
home 2-1 to Ekco who move into second spot. Wheatleys won a 7 goal thriller 4-3
at Milton, despite Jarvis popping up on the score sheet. Corringham won 2-0 at
Basildon United. William de Ferrers move off the bottom of the table after
beating Foulness 2-1, who now go bottom.
Rayleigh Olympiads are now second in Division 3 after
winning 4-2 at Inn on the Green. Zeus and Nicholas Colts shared the points in a
2-2 draw, it would be remiss of me not to mention that Jacobs scored an goal to
bring Colts back into the game.
In Division 4, Gt Wakering III beat Lions 8-1, Burns
getting two but we don’t know whether he got a round. Catholic II beat Laindon
3-1. Leaders Brit II were rained off, and we’ve assumed so was the Fairfax v
Corinthians game, but no one has yet told us!!
