It took extra time to separate these two big guns from the Premier Division. The opening goal came after 16 minutes, and it was a stunning 30 yarder from the Man-of-the-Match - Greg Hunt, which gave Rovers keeper Paul Rosser no chance. With the caliber of players on show it was little wonder that the quality of play by both sides was great for the spectators. Just as the half time break was about to come Rovers' prolific striker Simon Deakin drove home the equaliser. HALF TIME 1-1.

Whilst mentioning the quality of the players contribution to the first half it must also be said that the three officials also had an excellent game throughout the match. The second half was another cat and mouse affair, with players like Rovers' Danny McGoldrick and Micky Penman standing out. Greg Hunt and Steve Warner were equally as impressive for Chapel. There was one scare in the half when Chapel's Bret Chapman took a nasty knock to the head in an accidental collision. He was able to continue after coming off for treatment.

Chances were few and far between as both sets of defenders did their jobs making it hard work for the strikers. Rovers went very close to going ahead in the 75th minute when the ball flashed across the face of their goal. Paul Rosser made a vital stop moments after in the Rovers goal. With the scores level after 90minutes, extra time was needed, for the second time this cup final season for us.
No sooner had the first period began Steve Warner gave Chapel the lead but again within 7 minutes Martin Sedgewick leveled the score for Rovers. As the game seemed set to go to the dreaded penalty shoot out Rovers conceded a penalty with just two minutes remaining on the clock. Up stepped Greg Hunt and he made no mistake from the spot.
